Heavy exchanges of gunfire underway in Mogadishu as Ethiopians search houses

Mogadishu 05, July.07 ( Sh.M.Network)-
Joint house-to-house search operations by Somali and Ethiopian forces are underway in Mogadishu, the Somali capital, on Thursday. The troops halted the entire movements of buses and cars, searching Mogadishu's biggest bazaar, Bakara.

Heavy exchanges of gunfire soon erupted in the area as the Ethiopian and Somali soldiers penetrated the market. Rocket propelled grenades were used in the gun battle which is still going on.

The Ethiopians were supported by tanks and heavy weaponries during the operations.

It is not yet clear if there casualties.

Mogadishu's biggest business firms have been searched. Mosques were among the area searched today.
